You will visit Fushimitaisha shrine and Fushimi sake district. This is 5 hours course.

Places we will visit

  • Fushimi Inari
  • Fushimi Sake District

A tour through Kyoto’s Fushimi area begins with Fushimi Inari Grand Shrine, one of the most impressive sights in the city. This Shinto shrine is famous for the thousands of vermillion gates that seem to go on forever along the paths up and down the mountain here. Fushimi Inari was originally founded for worshippers to pray for good harvests, but today, they come to ask for success in business. The shrine is at once lively and bustling, while quiet and mysterious, depending where you are on its expansive grounds. You haven’t truly experienced Kyoto until you’ve visited this grandest of the city’s shrines.

The Fushimi area is also home to a district of traditional sake breweries built in large wooden buildings with white plaster walls. On the way to the Gekkeikan Okura Sake Museum, we will pass by the canal, where boats that once carried sake down to Osaka now transport sightseers so they can enjoy the scenic beauty of the local area. Spring, when the cherry blossoms bloom, is the most beautiful time of year along the canal. As we approach the museum, you’ll note the tempting aroma of sake in the air. That sake is made from Fushimi’s fine water, which runs down from the mountains and has the right amount of minerals for brewing. Inside the museum, you can view traditional brewing equipment, classic bottles with retro labels. Our visit wraps up with a delightful tasting of three types of sake, but in small amounts so you can continue your sightseeing for the day.
